Kitchen hood suppression systems with wet chemical agents are purpose-built fire protection solutions designed to automatically detect and extinguish fires in commercial cooking environments, including hoods, ducts, and grease-laden cooking surfaces.
These systems use a potassium-based wet chemical agent that rapidly cools flames and chemically reacts with hot oils and grease to create a non-flammable, soapy film (via saponification), effectively smothering the fire and preventing re-ignition. Discharge occurs through a network of nozzles strategically located in the hood canopy, ductwork, and over cooking equipment for precise and efficient fire control.
Kitchen hood suppression systems are available in two configurations:
Purely Mechanical Systems using fusible link detectors and mechanical actuation—ideal for straightforward, self-contained protection.
Electronic Systems using heat detectors connected to a fire suppression control panel—allowing for enhanced monitoring, alarms, and integration with building fire alarm systems.
Both system types include manual pull stations and are designed for quick response in the high-risk conditions of commercial kitchens.
